dreams, fears and everything in between...

(dream a little dream of me)

We are four days into the first week of Kelly Rae's e-course and it has bought up a whole lot of interesting thoughts.... Firstly she encouraged us to think about our dreams, goals and our passions.  Then the question was asked "What would you do if you knew you would not fail"... what were our fears.

So here are my creative dreams so far (in no particular order)...
  • write and publish a series of children's books with a wonderful and supportive publisher.
  • to have a licencing deal and produce a beautiful range of stationery and products.
  • work full time as an artist earning a good living doing what makes me happy.
  • earn enough to be able to travel and visit my new friends around the world.
  • surround myself with people who I love, who are emotionally supportive and who love me for who I am and what I believe.
  • be involved in the creative community in Hawke's Bay and New Zealand.
  • nurture the HB/NZ handmade group I am a part of to become a big presence in the online world.
  • develop a stunning website with a clever designer
  • take part in an art retreat in the states.
  • a dream I would like to be a part of would be to have a local art supplies shop that would have a cute little gallery and café attached.

I am still working on my fears... they are harder then dreams, I know what the fears feel like but I'm finding it hard to put them into words.

Amazing dreams. One day I will be buying your children's book for my kids. I am in LOVE with this new painting. LOVE.

For me it's the other way around. I can list you my fears in no time but I'm reluctant to dream big. And even more reluctant to tell my dreams out loud. I love your dreams. I may adopt a few myself. :)

Katherine, you write so beautifully about your dreams and I am absolutely 100% certain you will achieve these and more! You have given me goosebumps! Big hugs!

Oh, and when you travel to the art retreat I will travel in your suitcase, ok?!

Love the new painting too. Beautiful!

You have given me so much to think about!

Those are beautiful dreams. A nice manifestation. Thank you for encouraging me to dream, too - albeit times are difficult.

May all your dreams come true & your dragons be few.

Good question.
It makes a lot of difference in our answers if there is no "if you knew you would not fail" at the end of the question.
But our dreams are the thing that defines us.

I hope you do go to an art retreat in the States. I went to one this year and it was the best experience.

You know, one of my dreams is to be part of creating a craft centre/gallery/retail store/cafe here in Australia.

Oh, I meant to add a link to this place in Santa Monica that is similar to the kind of space I'd like to see here in Australia.

thanks for sharing. I'm in the Taking Flight class, too, but had already found your art/blog before coming across you in class.

I'd love it if you posted more about how you make your art: backgrounds, mediums, etc. I'd love to get more of a feel for it--the images are so beautiful here on the internet.

first ... I love this new painting ... I'm especially drawn to the damask background, flowing scarf and two tiny flowers in her hair.

Great job on listing your dreams ... I'm sure that they will all come true and if you are involved in an art supply store with a cute little gallery and cafe attached, I hope that you will invite all of your artist friends to show their work too (wink, wink)!

Wow, what beautiful dreams you have - and I can totally see you living them out!

I think I would find my fears much harder to articulate, also.

{hugs}

Hi Katherine, I saw your dream list and see how we share so many things (like being a happy full time artists and writing books), but I also see you've so much clarity in what you want, and that makes you closer to getting what your heart desire. This is such an inspiration to me a well, am going to write a dream list of my own in my art journal NOW!
